Beetle Beetle

March 2001 — Overland Park, KS

This Beetle character was built using the open source Blender software. Inspired by Bug’s Life, this project was an independent study project in high school. I began with a beetle carcass, modeled a caricature in clay, and then re-created the clay model in Blender. The project took about two months to complete in class. The finished product was a high-resolution print depicting the beetle coming in for a landing on a Lego helipad.
